3 Fascinating Reasons to Visit Cantigny Park

Bird watching in Cantigny Park

Do you love seeing flowers bloom, trees budding, and wildlife enjoying their natural habitat? We have the perfect place for you close to our community at River Run at Naperville. Cantigny Park has something for everyone and for all ages.

In fact, it’ll take you days to explore, and you’ll find yourself wanting to come back throughout the year.

First Division Museum

Cantigny Park is close to the First Division Museum where you can view historic artifacts from World War I and Colonel McCormick, including actual WWI tanks and artillery.

While many museums would have such exhibits behind glass, many of the artifacts at First Division are hands on. You can climb onto a tank and explore the view a gunner might have had.

Cantigny Park has a beautiful nature trail that is easy to walk. It’s designed for strolling and enjoying nature. You’ll notice signs along the path giving you information about what you’re seeing.

If you stop and listen, you’ll hear birds singing in the trees. And if you bring binoculars and a bird book, you might even spot a rare bird or two.

During certain times of the year, you may get a glimpse of the squirrels scampering, rabbits hopping, and deer wandering through the park.

Bird Watching

If you do not want to walk the trails to see the birds, there are plenty of spots in the park to sit and birdwatch. Stop at the visitor center and they’ll tell you what birds you are most likely to see, as well as the best spots to observe them.

There are even binoculars for you to borrow. Enjoy!
